- An overview of the Club's comprehensive insurance solutions
As part of the Club's 2025 renewal campaign, we have produced the below video to showcase how each type of service provided by the Club supports and benefits our Members and their brokers, demonstrating our knowledge, experience, and desire to always Ensure their Peace of Mind.
The Shipowners’ Club is constantly seeking new ways to continue offering comprehensive insurance solutions to our Members around the globe. As the market leaders in the small and specialist vessel P&I insurance sector, our Members know that their liabilities are in safe hands. Our disciplined and responsive underwriting approach, dynamic claims service and proven financial stability enable our Members to operate with confidence. Additionally, our personalised service, delivered by industry experts, fosters a sense of care and community that remains a top priority for us.
Dimitris is our General Manager of the Club's office in Greece. He has been with the Club since 2006, starting in the Underwriting department in London before moving to Greece. He touches on a unique factor of the Club's disciplined and responsive underwriting approach.
Mark Harrington, Commercial Director - London, and Steve Randall, Chief Executive - Singapore, comment on the Club's stance on General Increases. The Club’s General Increase (GI) record has been one of the best in the International Group of P&I Clubs. The past decade has seen us request no increase in 6 out of the last 10 years and only applying no more than 5% in each of the other four years. This underlies the Club's aim of only applying increases when necessary. This also included absorbing any change to the cost of the IG reinsurance contract.
Britt Pickering, Claims and Legal Director, discusses the Club's dynamic Claims department and its offering of high-quality, tailored and round-the-clock global assistance to our Members. In addition to this first-class service, the Club is among the few International Group of P&I Clubs that does not universally apply deductibles to claims fees. The Club diligently pursues third-party recoveries whenever feasible and reasonable, leveraging its extensive in-house legal claims expertise.
The efficient and proactive handling of claims is driven by our committed team of claims experts. The Club’s Legal Costs Cover (LCC) Manager, Georgia Maltezou, discusses the breadth of experience of the team and why the Club’s LCC is rapidly gaining popularity.
The Club’s Loss Prevention (LP) department provides guidance to Members across the globe. The LP team has developed, often in collaboration with industry experts, a variety of resources - such as bulletins, booklets, podcasts, infographics, and case studies - to provide guidance on best practices and address environmental related topics and associated risks across four key areas: Onboard Safety, Navigation, Environmental Protection, and Crew Health and Well-being. Louise Hall, Director of Loss Prevention, Corporate Responsibility, and Marketing, elaborates on the LP department's distinctive approach in its provision of tailored advice and support to Members, ensuring assistance is available whenever and wherever needed.
